Siberian Larch Decking
Siberian Larch is one of the world’s toughest and most durable softwood species. It possesses excellent durability and density, and good dimensional stability. Its well defined annual rings and a palette of pale red, light brown and golden-brown colour tones combine to give it a beautiful and distinctive natural appearance.
Naturally occurring resins and extractives give Siberian Larch a high level of resistance to decay and rot. This sustainable old growth timber has been prized as a construction material for centuries. It has a proven life expectancy of 50+ years, but there are many cases of it lasting much longer. An example of the longevity of Siberian Larch can be found beneath the city of Venice, where between the fifth and ninth centuries 400,000 larch piles were used to strengthen the foundations of its buildings.
Nowadays this versatile wood species is used extensively throughout Europe, primarily for exterior applications such as cladding and decking, and for other specialist uses including flooring, bridges and even Olympic velodrome tracks.
Use Siberian Larch indoors for wall or ceiling panelling to help create a warm and inviting ambience in any room.
The remarkable qualities and unique performance characteristics of Siberian Larch have led to it being referred to as the 'Tree of Eternity'.
